OUR STORY

Mission Statement

Our mission is to bring our customers fun alternative clothing based on our love of Japanese street fashion. We sell imported and locally made items. We also offer our own line of Japanese Street inspired clothing.

Toxic Blossom started February, 2010 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia when we opened our shop in the Harbourview Weekend Market. It was a small venue but a great start for a budding business.

After about six months at that location, Toxic Blossom partnered up with a few other small businesses to help open up Plan B Merchants Co-op in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Plan B Merchants Co-op has offered many local small businesses the chance to test the waters in retail.

The name Toxic Blossom came from the combination of two businesses. Toxic Heart, run by Stacy Lepage, and Blossom Works, run by Caily Huntley.

Caily Huntley had always had an interest in creating clothing but it did not come upon her seriously until she was in high school. During this time in her life she had helped several theatrical productions with their costumes including a few through Dalhousie University.  Taking some time off from sewing shortly after she chose to pursue other skills such as getting her license in makeup artistry.  After helping out with the makeup on a few short films she decided to try out making accessories and clothing under the name of Blossom Works.

Caily's favorite Japanese fashion styles are Lolita, Punk and Goth.

Stacy Lepage found her love for Japanese Fashion after spending a year living in Tokushima, Japan. Upon returning to Canada she decided to attend a fashion school in Toronto, Canada and shortly after began a small accessory business called Toxic Heart. Stacy also graduated from Saint Marys University with a double bachelors degree in Asian Studies and History and is currently enjoying another year in Japan.

Stacy's favorite Japanese fashion styles are Punk, Lolita and Fairy Kei.
